Maffett & Associates offers a fresh, progressive design approach, introducing innovative designs and alternatives that enhance and add character to the community. The firm places emphasis on serving as a resource for contractor and client alike, as it pertains to new materials and technology, code compliance, and planning and zoning trends.

Architectural redundancies are kept to a minimum in our designs. If the feature does not have a structural or functional responsibility it is not included in the aesthetics. Ample aesthetic possibilities are present in the fundamental design requiring no additional elements for aesthetics alone. Maffett & Associates strongly believe that the old architectural expression “form follows function” is correctly stated.

Buildings by Maffett & Associates are required to fit the need for special functions such as required for manufacturing and marina industries. They possess extensive experience in marina and water front facilities. Their association with Maff-Stack Boat Storage Systems puts them in the lead for designing dry-stack boat storage buildings that are a structural component of the overall project.

The office is located in the Arcade Building on the Square in downtown Cookeville, TN. The firm and its professionals enjoy an excellent reputation. They have a 100% success rate, and have never had the occasion to submit an Errors & Omissions insurance claim in over 40 years of business. Their strengths lie in being a firm that treats each project as a signature project, and are committed to each and every client. The fact that over 80% of their clients are repeat and referral customers speaks to this.

Principal, William C. Maffett, NCARB, P.E., President and founder, began his career some 40+ years ago as a contractor for Forster-Creighton Construction Company in Nashville, TN. In 1962, after a four-year stint with another Nashville company (an architectural firm), he started his own construction company. He took on partners and called it William C. Maffett & Associates.

The company has gone through a number of changes since then, but has remained in the design field continuously. Today is it owned entirely by Maffett. In July 2004, Maffett and Associates was formed. The firm brings with it many talents and a legacy of experience holding architect and engineering licenses in many states. Under Federal Guidelines, the firm is classified as a U. S. Small Business.

Since the company has considerable building experience through the construction company, William C. Maffett, Contractor, (TN License No. 8081, Unlimited), “value engineering” is automatically a part of the typical services. The projects have been economical and in budget because they know what it cost before it is put on paper. Their change orders are far below the national average.

Maffett was one of the first “design-build” companies and the Maffett family has been involved in construction management for a century. William Maffett’s father was an architect/contractor and performed “design-build” and construction management under the original title of “Master Builder.”

“We are not sculptors or artists; we are 'buildings with a purpose' designers.” William C. Maffett
